Pattern 24: Position-Weighted Total of the First Three Words Equals 245

Pattern Statement

When the alphabet-position total of each of the first three words of Genesis 1:1 is multiplied by its position in the verse—1, 2, or 3—the resulting products total 245. This total is evenly divisible by 7.

Words being tested:
בראשית ברא אלהים
“In the beginning God”

Why this pattern matters

Pattern 24 considers both the alphabet-position value of each word and its location within the verse. Moving a word to another position would change the calculation, even if the three words themselves remained the same.

How this pattern is measured

The alphabet-position totals of the first three words are 76, 23, and 41. Each total is multiplied by the position of its word:

Result for Genesis 1:1

Position-weighted total:

(76 × 1) + (23 × 2) + (41 × 3)
= 76 + 46 + 123
= 245

245 ÷ 7 = 35

Probability note

(1 in 1e1 for the previous four patterns combined[8]).
1 in 10^8 probability that all patterns so far occurred by chance.

This page uses the probability notation provided in the original pattern sequence.

Supporting tables
