Pattern 95 Genesis 1:1 Selects Ten Digits of π from e

Why this pattern matters

This pattern connects Genesis 1:1 with two fundamental mathematical constants. The interval 552 can be derived in six related ways: three word combinations measured under each of the two Hebrew numbering systems. All six calculations converge on the same interval.

Applying that interval to the digits of e, beginning at the specified base index, produces the opening ten-digit sequence of π exactly. The six derivations provide redundancy in the construction of the interval, but they are not six independent ten-digit matches.

How this pattern is measured

Use these three combinations of Genesis 1:1 words:

created, God, and
created, the direct-object marker, and
God, the direct-object marker, and

For each word, repeatedly add the digits of its Hebrew total until one digit remains.

Under Hebrew alphabet positions:

created: 23 → 5
God: 41 → 5
direct-object marker: 23 → 5
and: 29 → 11 → 2

Under traditional Hebrew values:

created: 203 → 5
God: 86 → 14 → 5
direct-object marker: 401 → 5
and: 407 → 11 → 2

Consequently, each of the three combinations produces 552 under either measurement system. This gives six related derivations of the same interval.

Beginning at zero-based character index 1047 in euler.txt, select ten characters at indexes:

1047 + 552n, for n = 0 through 9.

The selected digits are:

3141592653

Result for Genesis 1:1

The interval derived from Genesis 1:1 therefore selects the first ten digits of π from the decimal expansion of e.

Selection of the starting index: The base index 1047 represents Psalm 104:7, a verse mentioning thunder. It was selected through a historical association between Euler and the study of sound propagation. This is an interpretive selection rather than a number derived directly from Genesis 1:1.

Probability note

If the starting index, interval, target, and ten-digit length were all specified independently before examining e, the probability of an exact match to a particular ten-digit sequence under a simple random-digit model would be approximately:

1 in 10 to the 10

The six Genesis calculations all produce the same interval and the same extraction. They therefore must not be counted as six independent ten-digit matches or described as “60 significant digits.”
