Letters being tested

Letter positions are counted in Hebrew reading order using the traditional Masoretic consonantal text. Vowel points, cantillation marks, spaces, and punctuation are excluded. Final mem (ם) and final tsadi (ץ) retain the traditional values 40 and 90.

Why this pattern matters

Genesis 1:1 contains 28 Hebrew letters and can therefore be divided into two equal halves of 14 letters. This pattern examines both the outer boundaries of the complete verse and the two boundaries adjoining its midpoint.

Pattern 15 combines the letter selections used in Patterns 13 and 14. It is therefore a related result, not an independent test of the verse.

How this pattern is measured

Identify letters 1, 14, 15, and 28 in Hebrew reading order, assign their traditional Hebrew numerical values, and add the four values. The pattern is satisfied if their combined total is evenly divisible by 7.
