Pattern 78 The First 14 Letters and the Number 888 in Human DNA

Pattern Statement:

The first half of Genesis 1:1 contains 14 of the verse’s 28 Hebrew letters. Its pattern of repeated and distinct letters occurs 888 times in the amino-acid representation produced from the human reference genome.

In traditional Greek isopsephy, the name Jesus—ΙΗΣΟΥΣ—has the numerical value:

10 + 8 + 200 + 70 + 400 + 200 = 888

The noteworthy result is therefore not merely that the letter structure occurs in the genome-derived data, but that its total number of occurrences equals the established Greek numerical value of Jesus.

Why this pattern matters

888 is Jesus numeric value in Greek.

How this pattern is measured

The downloadable verify.java program processes the human reference-genome chromosome files supplied in gz.zip. It reads the DNA bases in groups of three, translates each codon into its corresponding one-letter amino-acid symbol, and searches the resulting chromosome strings.

For Pattern 78, the program removes the spaces from the transliterated Genesis 1:1 text and divides its 28 letters into two groups of 14. The search does not require the amino-acid letters to equal the Hebrew transliteration letters. Instead, it requires the pattern of repeated and distinct letters to be identical.

For example, whenever the same Hebrew letter appears twice in the 14-letter pattern, the corresponding amino-acid symbol must also be the same in both positions. Different Hebrew letters must correspond to different amino-acid symbols.

The first 14-letter pattern produces 888 qualifying starting positions.

Result for Genesis 1:1

The repetition structure of the first 14 letters of Genesis 1:1 occurs 888 times in the genome-derived amino-acid data.

This is a mathematical pattern search, not a claim that Genesis 1:1 is biologically encoded, expressed as a protein, or present as literal Hebrew text in human DNA. The program mechanically translates the reference-genome data into amino-acid symbols and compares equality patterns among letters.

Download verify.java and gz.zip into the same working location. Unzip the archive so that the chromosome .gz files are in the gz directory expected by the program. Compile and run:

javac verify.java
java verify

The program uses the Genesis 1:1 transliteration as its default input and creates halves.htm, which contains the individual matches.

Probability note

No independent probability is assigned to Pattern 78 on this page. Its statistical significance depends on the predetermined search method, the number of candidate letter structures considered, and the frequency of comparable occurrence totals in control sentences.

This page uses the probability notation provided in the original pattern sequence.
