Pattern 31: Whole-Number Letter Ratios Total 448

Pattern Statement

For each of the 28 letters in Genesis 1:1, its traditional numerical value is divided by its alphabet-position value. Only the whole-number quotient is retained. That quotient is then multiplied by the letter’s position within its word. The resulting values total 448, which is evenly divisible by 7.

Formula for each letter:

Position within the word ×
Whole-number quotient of
(Traditional numerical value ÷ Alphabet-position value)

Any remainder or decimal portion is discarded before multiplication.

Why this pattern matters

Pattern 31 combines each letter’s traditional numerical value, alphabet-position value, and position within its word. Unlike Patterns 29 and 30, this calculation uses division and retains only the whole-number quotient.

How this pattern is measured

The division is performed first. Any remainder or fractional portion is discarded, and the resulting whole number is multiplied by the letter’s position within its word. For example, the first word, בראשית, produces:

The same calculation is then applied to the remaining 22 letters.
